England and Wales renew rivalry in Gloucestershire
Gloucestershire will host two rugby league events in the next seven days.
On Sunday 22 November, the South of England will take on a South Wales team renewing the England-Wales rivalry that is strongest on the rugby field – whether it be league or union.
The sides will clash at Old Richians RFC (kick off 2.30pm) and the game is sure to be a hard-fought contest.
The South of England will be fielding a team of players who were on the fringes of selection during the summer and they will be keen to push for a place in next year's side that will compete against the North in the Origin game.
The South Wales side is a development side made up from players looking to enhance their skills in the 13-a-side game prior to next summer's Co-operative Rugby League Conference season in the Principality.
Old Richians will be hosting rugby league for the second time following the successful HJT semi final between West London and Blackwood Bulldogs and will be the new venue for the Gloucestershire Warriors next summer.
Call for volunteers from rugby league club
Later next week on Wednesday 25 November, the Gloucestershire Warriors in association with the University of Gloucestershire and Cheltenham RFC will be holding a Volunteers Open Night at the Prince of Wales Stadium, in Cheltenham.
The event will begin at 8pm immediately following the University rugby league side's BUCS Super 8 clash with Northumbria University (kick off 6pm). Those attending the Open Night will be able to see this game for free.
The Open Night will feature a brief presentation by Gloucestershire Warriors' Development Officer Dan Garbutt and afterwards, there will be plenty of opportunity to question the Warriors committee on their plans for 2010.
Anyone interested in rugby league in the county is invited to attend these events and contribute to what is likely to be an important year in the history of the game in Gloucestershire.
