The University of Gloucestershire qualified for the BUSA Student Rugby League Shield Final with a thrilling 30-28 win over Nottingham Trent University at Birmingham last week.
This will be the first time the students have qualified for this final. “It is a reward for the efforts of the players and an indication of the progress we have made as a team this season,” said Head coach Ken Stone.
The students finished in fifth place in the Wales & West Division of the Student Rugby League Championship having won just two of their ten games but found form in the play-offs to reach the final. They were handed a walkover in the opening round against Warwick before defeating Exeter 34-28 in the quarter final.
Gloucestershire will face Sheffield University in the final at Stanningley ARLFC, Leeds on Wednesday 12 March, kick off 2.30pm.
